The No. 3 Miami Hurricanes extended their undefeated season to 6-0 with a 43-35 double-overtime victory against the Florida State Seminoles at Hard Rock Stadium. The win positions Miami to potentially claim the No. 1 ranking in the AP Top 25 and extends their recent dominance in the rivalry, having won seven of their last ten matchups against the Seminoles. The game was defined by significant officiating controversy during the second overtime. A holding penalty on Florida State’s Xavier Chaplin nullified a potential game-tying touchdown on fourth-and-21. On the following play, officials ruled an interception by Miami’s Bryce Fitzgerald on a pass intended for Duce Robinson, a decision that remains a point of contention as replays suggested Robinson may have maintained possession. Following the loss, Florida State head coach Mike Norvell expressed frustration regarding these officiating ~~decisions.~~ decisions, suggesting the crew had been a “recurring issue in recent years.” Individual performances were notable for both sides. Miami quarterback Darian Mensah threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns, supported by receiver Malachi Toney, who recorded 11 receptions for 154 yards and two touchdowns, including a decisive score in the second overtime and a successful two-point conversion pass to Cooper Barkate. For Florida State, quarterback Ashton Daniels threw for 298 yards and four touchdowns, while Duce Robinson caught two touchdown passes, including a 75-yarder to force regulation into overtime. Daniels briefly exited the game after a helmet-to-helmet hit by Miami’s Zechariah Poyser, who was ejected for targeting. With this loss, Florida State falls to 3-4 and extends its road losing streak to 11 games.
