Julien’s Auctions has announced the ‘Michael Jackson: The Fashion Legacy Auction,’ set to take place from December 7 to 9 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The event will feature iconic memorabilia, most notably the red and black calfskin leather jacket worn in the 1983 ‘Thriller’ music video. Designed by Deborah Landis (also referred to as Deborah Nadulman Latis), the jacket is estimated to potentially sell for upwards of $10 million. This specific jacket is the version worn by Jackson in scenes without zombie makeup and contains personal inscriptions to designers Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush. It previously sold in 2011 for $1.81 million. Other items slated for auction include the sequined glove from the 1983 ‘Moonwalk’ performance, estimated at up to $800,000, and two pairs of black leather shoes. The shoes used for the ‘moonwalk’ are estimated to be valued between $60,000 and $80,000. Before the Abu Dhabi auction, these items are scheduled for a global exhibition tour including stops in the United States, Japan, and Bahrain.
