The government of Michoacán is implementing the ‘Jalo a Estudiar, Jalo por la Paz’ program to support secondary school students and reduce dropout rates. The initiative focuses on alleviating economic burdens for families through the distribution of footwear and other resources. Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla reported that over 800,000 pairs of sneakers have been distributed during the current administration. For the current year, approximately 202,000 students across 1,728 secondary and telesecundaria schools are scheduled to receive free sneakers. To date, the State Secretariat of Education (SEE) has distributed over 57,000 pairs across various regions, including Lázaro Cárdenas, Zacapu, Jiquilpan, Apatzingán, Zamora, La Piedad, Uruapan, Huetamo, and Zitácuaro. Beyond footwear, the state is providing 10,000 guitars to more than 600 secondary schools to promote arts and culture. The program also includes the Rita Cetina Scholarship, which is part of a broader package of 842,000 supports across various educational levels. These efforts are supported by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo through the ‘Michoacán por la Paz y la Justicia Plan’ to strengthen school retention and facilitate the transition to higher secondary education. Local officials officials, including Patricia Flores Anguiano and Mario Delgado Carrillo, recently delivered more than 750 pairs of sneakers to students at the Francisco J. Múgica Federal Secondary School in Tingüindín as part of these ongoing efforts. Tingüindín.
