Microsoft Windows 11 feature development

In late July 2026 Microsoft continued to expand the Windows 11 ecosystem through internal testing and Insider experimental builds. On July 24 the company was testing a major update aimed at tighter smartphone integration, adding an enlarged Phone Companion tile, a dedicated phone control panel, enhanced clipboard sync, and a separate SMS app. The preview also sparked discussion of a low‑spec Windows 11 edition to improve accessibility for lower‑end PCs.

Three days later, on July 27, Microsoft released Insider Experimental build 29634, introducing a Voice Isolation feature for Voice Access that filters background noise locally, alongside updates to the Insider Program UI, Narrator‑braille compatibility, account controls, and other minor reliability improvements. These builds illustrate an ongoing push to broaden Windows 11 functionality, spanning device integration and accessibility enhancements before any features reach a stable release.
