Global energy security concerns have intensified following warnings of low oil reserves and direct attacks on Saudi Arabian infrastructure. Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Nasser cautioned that global oil reserves have reached “dangerously low levels,” noting that it could take approximately two years to return to normal levels even after transit through the Strait of Hormuz is stabilized. Volatility in oil prices followed Houthi forces claiming responsibility for attacks on Riyadh International Airport and Dammam airport. During trading on October 12, global oil prices rose by nearly $2 per barrel as supply concerns stemming from the attacks outweighed news regarding increased Russian diesel exports and energy-related ceasefire agreements. The strikes Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed that a Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on October 11 resulted in 13 deaths 12 deaths, including one American citizen, and over 300 309 injuries. In response to these attacks, the United States indicated it is considering strikes against the group.
