The Polish football club Miedź Legnica underwent a change in leadership following a period of inconsistent performance in the Betclic I liga. On September 19, 2026, the club dismissed head coach Janusz Niedźwiedź after a 2:3 defeat against Stal Rzeszów. Although the team had started the season with four wins in six matches, they experienced a slump involving four losses and two draws. On September 23, 2026, the club appointed 37-year-old Dawid Kroczek as the new head coach. Kroczek joined the side 23 days after leaving Raków Częstochowa, where he experienced a disappointing run including a Conference League qualifier exit and four consecutive league losses. Due to formal regulations, he was ineligible to work for an Ekstraklasa club during this period, leading him to the I liga. Kroczek signed a contract through the end of the 2027/2028 season with an option for an additional 12 months. Upon his appointment, he expressed confidence in the club’s stadium and training facilities, stating his intention to “meet the club’s ambitions and bring joy to the fans.” At the time of his appointment, Miedź Legnica held fifth place in the league standings. His debut is scheduled for October 11 against Odra Opole.
