A humanitarian crisis has emerged at the Trampolín beach detention area in Ceuta, Spain, as migrants face severe shortages of food and water. Human rights groups reported that over a thousand detainees, including nationals from various African and Middle Eastern countries, were held for several days without reliable nutrition or sanitation due to water supply cuts. As the situation evolved, the settlement grew to approximately 1,500 migrants who have established an improvised camp at the beach. This growth occurred as the local temporary immigration center (CETI) reached capacity. The makeshift camp consists of roughly twenty shelters built from local materials, with some residents organizing to assist with waste collection and environmental maintenance while awaiting permanent status solutions. Demographic data indicates that roughly 80% of the camp's population is from sub-Saharan Africa, including Senegalese and Sudanese migrants. Within the camp, a group of approximately 150 Sudanese migrants has organized to manage waste collection and site cleanliness. This situation follows a mass arrival event on July 30, where migrants attempted to swim from Morocco to Ceuta. Spanish authorities have since recovered 83 bodies in the area. In response to the high number of casualties, the forensic and judicial efforts in Ceuta have been reinforced, increasing the forensic team from seven to 19 professionals to manage identification and autopsies.
