The MIHAS Knowledge Hub has transitioned from a traditional four-day exhibition model into a year-round trade intelligence platform. This initiative aims to bolster the global competitiveness of Malaysian exporters through AI-driven content, digital webinars, and various knowledge-sharing sessions. Following this expansion, the 22nd Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS 2026) opened at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur. Hosted by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and organized by MATRADE, the four-day event features 1,700 companies and aims to generate RM5 billion in total sales value. The showcase incorporates a new AI-powered system for business matching and multilingual support to facilitate international trade across 14 Halal economy sectors. The exhibition includes approximately 2,000 booths and expects to welcome 50,000 visitors from 45 different countries. Sectors represented include food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, personal care, modest fashion, halal logistics, Islamic finance, and technology. During the event, the presence of a Libya Pavilion highlighted strengthening bilateral ties. Bilateral trade between Malaysia and Libya reached RM1.03 billion in 2025, representing a 38.9% increase from the previous year. Furthermore, Malaysian exports to Libya, including chemicals, machinery, and palm oil, grew by 73.4% year-on-year during the first eight months of 2026. This activity occurs amid broader economic momentum in Malaysia, where total trade reached RM2.51 trillion by August 2026. MIHAS 2026 has demonstrated early success, recording RM5.2 billion in sales within its first two days. This performance aligns with Malaysia’s strategic goal to reach RM80 billion in halal exports by 2030. To support this, the nation is seeking to expand its halal market into pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and logistics, while pursuing closer certification recognition with Indonesia and establishing an ASEAN Halal Council. Beyond the halal sector, Malaysia is deepening regional economic cooperation.
