Mike Evans performance with San Francisco 49ers
Overview
Wide receiver Mike Evans has become a key contributor for the San Francisco 49ers during his first season with the team. Following a 12-year career in Tampa Bay, Evans has been described by quarterback Brock Purdy as a ‘game changer’ and by teammate Christian McCaffrey as someone who has helped ‘up the standard’ of the offense.
During a 32-29 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, Evans recorded seven catches for 113 yards and a touchdown. The game also featured a viral moment when Evans inspected the jersey of Seahawks cornerback Trevon Diggs, an act he later explained was due to difficulty identifying players while wearing helmets. The exchange escalated when Diggs shoved Evans in the facemask.
Despite playing through previous injuries, such as broken ribs sustained in Week 3, Evans has helped the 49ers maintain an undefeated 5-0 record.
