Following his title win, Nic Nemeth defended the TNA World Championship against KC Navarro before announcing a high-profile match against Jeff Hardy in Philadelphia. In August, controversy arose regarding the advertising of the Hardy vs. Nemeth bout, which Matt Hardy defended as being taped on July 30 to sell tickets. Nemeth later acknowledged the “confusing wording” and accepted responsibility. As the promotion builds toward Lethal Lockdown, the X-Division Championship was declared vacant after Leon Slater exercised ‘Option C’, relinquishing his title for a shot at Nemeth’s World Championship. Director of Authority Santino Marella announced that a new X-Division champion will be crowned via a six-way match at the Bound for Glory pay-per-view on October 11 at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, following a series of qualifying matches. During the August 27 episode of iMPACT in Brampton, Ontario, Slater issued verbal challenges to Nic and Ryan Nemeth. Following a confrontation, Marella officially sanctioned a title match between Nemeth and Slater. In recent tapings at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Nic Nemeth successfully defended his World Championship against Matt Hardy in a no-disqualification match. The bout featured interference from Ryan Nemeth, who was put through a table, allowing Nemeth to secure the pinfall using a wrench. Additionally, KC Navarro secured his spot in the six-way X-Division title match at Bound for Glory by defeating Joe Alonzo. In the tag team division, Trey Miguel and Jason Hotch defeated John Skyler and Special Agent Zero. Following the bout, TNA International Champion Mustafa Ali appeared via video from a hospital bed, revealing he is recovering from a punctured lung and fractured ribs sustained at Lockdown. To resolve contention for the International Championship, Marella announced that Jason Hotch will face Trey Miguel in a number one contenders match on the September 3 episode of iMPACT.
