The Illawarra Hawks have secured Milton Doyle for the 2026-27 NBL season. Doyle, a former NBA player and NBL champion, signed a one-year deal to serve as the team’s second import alongside guard Tyler Harvey. Coach Justin Tatum described the signing as ‘a steal’, noting Doyle’s scoring ability. Doyle Doyle, 32, expressed motivation to play in the Hawks’ fast-paced offensive system and stated that his skill set as a large guard will complement Harvey. Doyle also noted his desire to prove critics wrong regarding his recent performance, highlighting that he led his previous team, Melbourne United, in scoring despite media narratives suggesting a decline. Following Doyle’s arrival, the Hawks have also signed American forward Kelan Martin for the NBL27 season. Martin, 31, joins the club after playing for teams including the Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics. His signing was facilitated by Tyler Harvey obtaining Australian citizenship, which freed up an import spot and allowed Harvey’s contract to be classified as marqueeable under league rules. Martin is expected to fill the starting power forward position under coach Tatum. The team is preparing for scheduled to begin their season opener against the New Zealand Breakers in September. on September 19 at Spark Arena.
