Illumination’s *Minions & Monsters* opened worldwide on 1 July 2026, debuting at No. 1 in the U.S. with a $36.4 million three-day Independence Day weekend. While the domestic start was lower than previous franchise entries, the film saw strong international performance, including a record opening in Vietnam and leadership in Italy. As the film's theatrical run progressed, box office projections suggested it might become the first installment in the *Despicable Me* franchise to fail to reach the $500 million global threshold. By early August, worldwide ticket sales reached approximately $473 million, with $173.9 million coming from the domestic market. The film is set in the 1920s silent film era, following Minions James and Henry as they inadvertently unleash monsters while attempting to navigate the transition to sound films.
