Additionally, the DNR merged waterfowl rules into the main hunting booklet and launched an electronic licensing system accessible via a mobile app or online portal.

New carcass-disposal rules permit whole deer to be removed from CWD zones via refuse haulers, landfills, or meat processors, ending the previous dumpster program. In August, the DNR announced a September 10 deadline for firearm and muzzleloader hunters to enter the antlerless deer permit area lottery. A new provision allows hunters to apply for both the antlerless lottery and special hunts simultaneously. The bear hunting season is scheduled to open on September 1, with advisories to avoid shooting bears marked for research.
