Minnesota Vikings and Indianapolis Colts Week 7 matchup

Overview

The undefeated Minnesota Vikings (5-0) are set to host the Indianapolis Colts (2-4) at US Bank Stadium on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Following a bye week, the Vikings aim to maintain momentum behind a league-leading defense coordinated by Brian Flores, which currently allows the fewest points per game.

Organizational uncertainty continues for the Colts following the dismissal of general manager Chris Ballard. Injury updates for Indianapolis include the absence of cornerback Sauce Gardner, tight end Tyler Warren, wide receiver Anthony Gould, and linebacker CJ Allen. While punter Rigoberto Sanchez is expected to play, the Colts have released Thomas Morstead from the practice squad.

For Minnesota, running back Jordan Mason is expected to return to the active roster, which may allow the team to release DeeJay Dallas. As the NFL trade deadline approaches, speculation persists that the Vikings could be aggressive suitors for Colts running back Jonathan Taylor if Indianapolis becomes a seller.

Analysts have characterized this matchup as a potential ‘trap game’ for Minnesota, noting the necessity for the Vikings to neutralize Colts interior lineman DeForest Buckner and address the Colts' defensive vulnerabilities in the run game.
