Comedian Miranda Hart is returning to television in the second series of the BBC show ‘The Celebrity Traitors’ following a period of significant ill health. Hart has been managing Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), noting that the condition caused extreme exhaustion and pain, making her participation in the series ‘challenging’ on her body. During the competition, Hart participated in a task called ‘Spirits of the Hut’ intended to increase the charity prize fund. The challenge required contestants to retrieve jewellery from a soiled toilet in a dilapidated shack. The stench of the task caused Hart to vomit while sorting through the recovered items. During the series, Hart formed a close bond with fellow comedian Joe Lycett. The connection became apparent when Lycett was banished from the competition, leaving Hart visibly emotional. Hart remarked that “Connections, laughter and joy are bigger than this game,” noting that the experience provided a sense of playfulness she had missed during her illness. Lycett has since confirmed that their friendship has continued beyond the filming of the show. He described the experience as more immersive than expected and noted that while he did not win, he valued the time spent with Hart and other comedians.
