Gabrielle Henry, representing Jamaica at the 2025 Miss Universe pageant, has filed a negligence lawsuit in Delaware Superior Court against the Miss Universe Organization, JKN Legacy Inc., and Legacy Holding Group USA. The legal action stems from an accident on November 19, 2025, during the preliminary evening gown competition in Bangkok, Thailand. Henry alleges she fell approximately 1.5 meters through an unmarked and uncovered opening in the stage. The complaint states that the opening, which contained concrete and lighting equipment, lacked proper barricades, warning signs, or safety markers, and that intense stage lighting obscured her visibility. The fall resulted in severe medical complications, including a traumatic brain injury, acute subarachnoid hemorrhage, frontal lobe hemorrhagic contusion, and subdural hemorrhage. Additional injuries reported include facial lacerations and fractures. The accident caused Henry to lose consciousness, requiring several weeks of hospitalization in Asia followed by a lengthy neurological and physical rehabilitation process. Henry, an ophthalmology resident, claims the injuries have permanently altered her life and interrupted her medical career. The lawsuit includes counts of negligence, premises liability, negligent hiring, retention, and supervision, as well as the infliction of emotional distress. Henry contends the organization prioritized aesthetics over safety, noting that contestants had previously raised concerns regarding stage hazards.
