Nantucket debris found from missing Canadian air ambulance

The US Coast Guard has confirmed the discovery of a debris field off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts, believed to be from a missing Canadian-registered Gulfstream G100 air ambulance. The aircraft, operated by Latitude Air Ambulance, disappeared early Saturday morning while on a medical evacuation flight from Bermuda to Boston.

Six people were on board the aircraft, including two pilots, two medical staff members, a patient, and a family member. The occupants are reported to include four Canadian citizens and two Bermudian citizens. Search and rescue operations involving both air and sea crews are ongoing to locate the missing individuals.

Flight tracking data and air traffic control recordings indicate the aircraft experienced a rapid descent from approximately 24,000 feet to roughly 11,000 feet shortly before contact was lost. The pilot had reportedly declared an emergency due to electrical issues while approaching the coast, and there are indications the plane may have been flying without navigational instruments during a storm.
