In September 2026, the family of 4-year-old Daniel Maximiliano Rojas Suárez requested public assistance to locate the child after he disappeared in the Coapexpan neighborhood of Xalapa, Veracruz. He was last seen on September 13 wearing a red Avengers-themed pajama sweater, a tank top, and navy blue shorts. On September 15, 2026, the child’s body was discovered in a residence within the Coapexpan area. Following an investigation involving telephone tracking, video analysis, and three property searches, authorities arrested three individuals in connection with the case. State Attorney General Lisbeth Aurelia Jiménez Aguirre confirmed that the detainees—identified as the child’s stepfather, the stepfather’s mother, and the stepfather’s sister—were caught in flagrante. The suspects suspects, identified as Gilberto “N”, Ana Susana “N”, and Fernanda “N”, face charges of disappearance and qualified intentional homicide. The State Attorney General’s office has stated it will provide medical and psychological support to the family.
