In July 2026, MoDOT announced an 11-month closure of Interstate 70 through downtown Kansas City for 2027, providing alternate routes including I-435 and I-35. Later that month, the agency issued safety alerts for seasonal mowing crews and detailed detours for oversized trucks on I-55 near Cape Girardeau due to damaged concrete curbs. In August 2026, MoDOT expanded its maintenance schedule. For the week of Aug. 10-16, projects include resurfacing Route J in Andrew County, Highway 136 in Atchison County, and bridge work on Highway 36 in Caldwell County involving lane reductions and flagger control.
