The culinary sector in Málaga is experiencing growth through new restaurant developments and service expansions. Trazo by Doña Francisquita, located at the Official College of Architects of Málaga, has extended its weekend service hours to facilitate social gatherings in its garden terrace setting. Concurrently, Michelin-starred chef José Carlos García launched a new restaurant in the La Malagueta district on September 28. Titled ‘Ahora, libre’, the establishment is located on Calle Vélez Málaga near the Centre Pompidou. The venue is designed for an intimate dining experience with limited seating to encourage interaction between guests and the kitchen. Managed by Lourdes Luque, the restaurant focuses on contemporary Mediterranean recipes and local products. Further expansion is planned for the Muelle Uno shopping center, where restaurateur Marcos Granda—whose culinary group holds six Michelin stars—is set to open a new establishment, potentially named ‘Paula de Marcos’. Expected to open in February 2027, the venue will occupy a 1,000-square-meter space previously held by José Carlos García. This new project aims for an informal dining concept with an accessible mid-range price point, targeting an average ticket of 40 to 45 euros. Designed as a versatile meeting space, it will combine gastronomy with cocktails and cultural activities, operating daily from 12:00 to 22:00. The menu will emphasize local products from Málaga and Andalusia, including regional wines and cured meats from Ronda. Granda intends to utilize his existing professional team to maintain service continuity.
