The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is being implemented as an open standard to facilitate integration between AI applications and external data sources, tools, and APIs. The protocol aims to eliminate the need for custom, point-to-point connections by providing a uniform interface for AI systems to interact with services like GitHub or Jira. Practical applications of the protocol are appearing across different content management systems. WordPress has released an official MCP Adapter plugin that links its Abilities API with the protocol, allowing AI chatbots to perform maintenance tasks like writing posts or managing SEO through conversational interfaces. Similarly, the koh/webmcp package has been developed to integrate MCP with TYPO3 websites, enabling AI agents to perform structured navigation, search, and content retrieval with built-in security features. Expanding into social media management, Blog2Social has introduced an MCP server to enable AI-driven workflows. This integration allows AI agents to manage the entire process from drafting to final publication, including the generation and posting of text, images, and videos. The system utilizes a hosted endpoint and OAuth to simplify setup, allowing agents to prepare platform-specific content from sources like landing pages or product updates. While agents can autonomously execute workflows, the system is designed so that human users maintain control through an approval process.
