Moldova state asset privatization
Overview
The Republic of Moldova’s Public Property Agency initiated a privatization program for several state-owned assets, including the Chisinau Glass Factory, Hotel Zarea, the publishing enterprise ‘Știința’, the didactic publishing house ‘Lumina’, and the Experimental Chemical Enterprise ‘Izomer’. The program aims to attract domestic and foreign investment to modernize the industrial, hospitality, and publishing sectors.
In August, the deadline for submitting applications for Hotel Zarea and three other state enterprises was extended to October 20. This extension was requested by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan to account for the summer holiday season and to encourage higher investor participation. While 13 potential investors had expressed interest by mid-August, no formal applications had been submitted at that time.
