On September 30, 2026, authorities in Montemorelos, Nuevo León, discovered the bodies of five family members across two locations. The first victims, a woman and a child approximately three years old, were found in a red Jeep in the Los Fresnos neighborhood. The remaining three victims—an adult male and two children—were located in a nearby residence on Nogales Street. By October 2, the Attorney General's Office of Nuevo León identified the woman as social media influencer Cinthia Abigail Tamez Rivera. Investigators determined that Tamez allegedly killed her partner, Leodegario Moya Garza, and two children, identified as Bruno and Cristian, inside the home before fleeing in the Jeep with her youngest son, Gustavo. Ballistic evidence confirmed that a .38 caliber automatic pistol was used in both locations, as shell casings found at the residence matched those in the vehicle. On October 4, Prosecutor Javier Flores Saldívar stated the incident likely occurred between the night of September 29 and the early hours of September 30. Investigators believe a dispute between the couple may have triggered the violence, noting that evidence of alcohol consumption was found at the scene. A 14-year-old boy, who was under Tamez’s care but not identified as the son of a member former partner of the immediate family, Tamez Rivera, survived the incident attack by hiding. He is considered a key witness, having reportedly witnessed part of the violence inside the home. Prosecutors are currently reviewing continue to review security footage, social media posts, and the teenager's testimony to determine the motive and exact sequence of events in what appears to be a case of homicide followed by suicide. events.
