Montenegro continues to face significant infrastructure and traffic disruptions. The Auto-moto Association of Montenegro (AMSCG) reports increased vehicle frequency toward tourist destinations, compounded by extensive roadworks. The reconstruction of the Đurđevića Tara bridge on the M-6 highway remains a major disruption, with a total suspension of road and pedestrian traffic scheduled through October 26, 2026. In addition to the M-6 highway, other regional roads in Petnjica and Bar are facing temporary suspensions or alternating traffic due to infrastructure adaptations. Traffic safety remains a concern; recent reports documented 17 accidents over a 24-hour period across multiple locations, including Podgorica, Bar, Nikšić, Cetinje, Kolašin, Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat, Budva, and Pljevlja, resulting in three minor injuries. During this same period, police issued 661 fines, filed 63 misdemeanor reports, and seized ten pairs of license plates. As the summer tourist season concludes, travelers continue to encounter delays. Regional transport trends show similar disruptions across the Balkans. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, major roadworks on various highways and regional routes, including the Nemila-Vranduk section, the Jajce–Crna Rijeka road, and the A-1 motorway, have led to traffic diversions, while an accident in Ustiprača caused temporary closures on the Rogatica-Višegrad route. In Serbia, Putevi Srbije and AMSS have warned of rising traffic volumes and expected congestion on major highways as the season ends. To accommodate high passenger demand during this seasonal shift, Srbijavoz has extended the seasonal Tara train service from Subotica to Bar until September 30, 2026. Recent reports confirm that these disruptions persist across the region. In Montenegro, authorities have advised drivers to avoid traveling during peak heat hours due to the combination of construction and seasonal traffic.
