The Morena party continues to make strategic appointments for its Committees for the Defense of Transformation and National Sovereignty across various Mexican states in preparation for upcoming elections. In Sonora, former senator Lorenia Valles Sampedro was selected as state coordinator following internal surveys. Valles Sampedro pledged to support President Claudia Sheinbaum and Governor Alfonso Durazo, stating that the movement is “larger than any personal aspiration.” In Tlaxcala, Ana Lilia Rivera Rivera has been designated as the state coordinator. In Guerrero, Beatriz Mojica Morga has assumed the coordination role, emphasizing organizational strengthening. These appointments follow previous leadership shifts in San Luis Potosí and the designation of Clara Luz Flores as a virtual candidate for the 2027 Nuevo León governorship. In Tamaulipas, Deputy Magaly Deandar has announced her intention to seek the candidacy for mayor of Reynosa. Expanding its territorial organization strategy ahead of the 2027 federal elections, Morena has officially launched the internal process to select Federal District Coordinations of Defense of the Transformation and National Sovereignty. This initiative covers all 300 electoral districts in Mexico and specifically targets future candidates for the Chamber of Deputies. Registration for aspirants will occur exclusively online from October 1 to October 4, 2026. The party has established strict eligibility requirements to ensure integrity. Applicants must be Mexican by birth, of legal age, and in full possession of their political rights. Applicants must not hold positions in party leadership, the Federal Judiciary, or any level of government unless they request an immediate leave of absence, though current federal deputies seeking reelection are exempt. Furthermore, the party prohibits candidates with final convictions for domestic violence, sexual crimes, or political violence against women, as well as those with outstanding alimony debts or affiliations with religious institutions.
