The MotoGP Group has announced that the Hungarian Grand Prix will be excluded from the 2027 racing calendar. While the organization did not provide an official reason, reports suggest a significant decline in attendance at Balaton Park, which saw approximately 41,732 visitors in 2026 compared to over 80,000 in 2025. Despite this removal, officials stated that Hungary remains an important destination and noted that discussions regarding a potential future return are ongoing. The Hungaroring has been mentioned as a possible venue, though it would require modifications to meet necessary requirements. Regarding the 2027 season, the organization confirmed the season will conclude at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, scheduled for November 26–28, with the opener set for the Buriram International Circuit in Thailand from March 5–7. The 2027 season will also feature technical transitions, including the introduction of 850cc engines and the use of Pirelli tires. In addition to these scheduling updates, MotoGP has secured several long-term venue agreements. The Algarve International Circuit in Portimão, Portugal, has extended its contract to host the Portuguese Grand Prix until at least 2029, following a record-breaking 2025 event with over 166,000 spectators. Additionally, the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello in Italy has reached a five-year agreement to remain on the championship calendar through the end of the 2031 season. Carlos Ezpeleta, Deputy CEO of MotoGP, described the Mugello Circuit as “one of the spiritual cradles of MotoGP,” highlighting the track's historical significance and the unique atmosphere provided by Italian fans.
