Football activities in Mozambique involve both national team preparations and domestic cup competitions. Coach Chiquinho Conde announced a preliminary squad for the Mozambique national team, the Mambas, for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers scheduled for November 2026. A draw for the semi-finals is scheduled for October 30, following regional qualifiers. The final phase of the tournament is set to take place in Maxixe, Inhambane province, in December. As of late October, Costa do Sol and Ferroviário de Maputo have already secured their spots in the final stage. In the central region, Ferroviário da Beira holds an advantage over the defending champions, União Desportiva do Songo, following a 1-0 victory in the first leg. In the north, Ferroviário de Nampula and Lichinga remain tied after a scoreless draw in their initial encounter at the 25 de Junho stadium. The final phase, including the semi-finals and the final, is scheduled to be held in Maxixe between December 9 and 13.
