In late July 2026, Mozambique’s flag carrier Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) announced a turnaround, posting a net profit of about US$82 million for the 2025 fiscal year and reporting reductions in liabilities, operating costs, and a modest asset increase. Despite the improved finances, parliamentary oversight highlighted lingering challenges, including a US$400 million financial pass-through, a small leased fleet of six aircraft, and operational constraints. Two days later, LAM received two Embraer jets at Maputo International Airport, marking the first addition to its fleet under a broader recovery and transformation plan. The aircraft were expected to enter service within weeks after regulatory clearance, aiming to modernise the fleet, stabilise schedules, and enhance service quality. On August 14, 2026, the airline officially transitioned to a new commercial brand, ‘Air Mozambique’.
