The XVI Edition of the National School Sports Games Festival commenced in Inhambane, Mozambique, featuring 1,584 student-athletes aged 12 to 16. The competition includes eight modalities, such as athletics, football, and chess, along with inclusive athletics for people with disabilities. As the games progressed, individual team performances were reported. In women’s volleyball, the Nampula team faced experienced mixed results, suffering results. Interim coach Carmuto Paulo attributed a 3-0 defeat against the host province of Inhambane before securing to a lack of unity, nerves, and the home-court advantage. However, Nampula secured a 3-2 comeback victory against Niassa. Niassa after winning the final three sets, a feat Coach Carlito Paulo credited to improved concentration and teamwork. By the conclusion of the games, the Nampula delegation achieved significant success, most notably winning the championship title in men’s 11-a-side football and finishing as runners-up in the women’s football category. The province also earned podium finishes in athletics (60-meter sprint and long jump), second place in women’s basketball, and third place in handball. The volleyball team finished in fourth place. Provincial Director of Education William Tunzine noted that the province reached the semi-finals in all disciplines and the finals in three.
