In Mozambique, the 34th anniversary of the General Peace Agreement prompted calls for moral renewal and social justice. President Daniel Chapo encouraged religious groups to help restore ethical values to strengthen peace, while opposition leader Ossufo Momade of RENAMO stated that stability requires inclusion, respect for fundamental rights, and transparency regarding the costs of foreign forces in Cabo Delgado. Expanding on themes of governance and law, Mozambican Minister of Justice Mateus Saize advocated for international judicial cooperation that respects state sovereignty and the rule of law. Speaking at the International Justice Summit in Istanbul, Saize emphasized that human dignity must be the core of legal collaborations as nations face shared challenges such as the climate crisis, artificial intelligence regulation, and digital security. Building on these security and legal themes, President Chapo has since called for the strengthening of the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) operational capacity. Following the XX Special Operations and Reserve Units Course in Macandzene, he emphasized the necessity of specialized training and professionalism to combat terrorism, human trafficking, drug smuggling, and cybercrime. He urged officers to act with firmness against criminals while strictly adhering to the Constitution and human rights, noting that increased intervention power requires greater legal accountability. Minister Saize reiterated his stance on international cooperation at the Istanbul summit, while also addressing domestic priorities. He called for a more accessible and transparent justice system in Mozambique, specifically targeting rural areas through infrastructure expansion and digital modernization designed to avoid deepening social inequalities.
