MP Materials has expanded its commercial operations through new supply agreements and improved financial performance. The company entered into a long-term contract with multi-year agreement, expected to be worth nine figures, to supply gadolinium oxide to an unnamed undisclosed U.S. aerospace and defense customer to supply separated gadolinium, a rare-earth metal intended to diversify manufacturer. Gadolinium oxide is utilized in electronics, infrared sensors, and nuclear reactor shielding for submarines. This growth included $17.6 million in price-protection income from the Pentagon, which maintained a price floor for neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr) after market prices dropped. During the same quarter, NdPr oxide production rose 41% year-over-year to 840 metric tons. Adjusted EBITDA increased by $41 million to $28.5 million. The company is also shifting continues to shift its business model toward selling more refined NdPr products to increase profit margins.
