The MPLA party is conducting extensive organizational and grassroots mobilization efforts in Angola to secure a victory in the 2027 general elections. In late August 2026, the party’s Political Bureau Secretariat began working journeys in the Luanda province. Vice-President Mara Quiosa visited municipal committees in Viana and Kilamba to evaluate member commitment and organizational levels. During this period, officials prioritized updating the unofficial electoral register and considered using mobile brigades to improve accessibility to registration centers. By mid-September 2026, mobilization efforts intensified. In Luanda, MPLA Provincial Secretary Luís Nunes outlined a strategy to regain control of the capital by increasing coordination between the party and government administration, specifically through the Integrated Luanda Program (PIL). Nunes emphasized party unity, political training, and addressing public issues like infrastructure to mobilize over five million potential voters. Simultaneously, the party’s youth wing, JMPLA, conducted performance assessments in Icolo e Bengo, emphasizing the need for a strong community presence and increased participation in the official electoral registration process. In late September 2026, the party transitioned toward broader structural renewal. The MPLA convened its 14th Provincial Ordinary Conference in Luanda with over 1,200 delegates to define strategies for the 2026–2031 period, evaluate the previous mandate, and reinforce the fight against corruption and nepotism. During this time, Vice-President Mara Quiosa also met with religious leaders to discuss community challenges and the role of churches in promoting national reconciliation and encouraging electoral registration.
