The municipality of João Pessoa has implemented various administrative, health, and urban updates. Initial reports highlighted developments in social rights, including the eligibility of institutions for the Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents, alongside achievements in local sports and journalism. Following these updates, the Municipal Health Secretariat established new standardized procedures for requesting birth and death certificates via the 1Doc system to improve security and agility. More recently, the city expanded its public health initiatives by launching a home vaccination program for bedridden and institutionalized elderly residents using the Pneumococcal 20 vaccine. This strategy involves health teams from Family Health Units (USF) identifying eligible seniors through active searches by Community Health Agents. The program aims to protect against 20 serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae, which can cause diseases such as pneumonia and meningitis. During these visits, professionals also assess and update other vaccinations, including Influenza and Covid-19. Families may also request services through the ‘João Pessoa na Palma da Mão’ mobile application. Concurrently, municipal authorities increased urban maintenance efforts, such as irrigation and pruning, across more than 200 squares and gardens to manage seasonal vegetation growth.
