Overview

In Columbus, Georgia, two men, Waquay Harris, 26, and Tristan Chavez Cook, 19, have been charged with murder and armed robbery following the June 22, 2026, shooting death of 21-year-old Jay’Veon Bell.

Officers discovered Bell with a gunshot wound near 31st Avenue and Delta Street, where he was pronounced dead. Both suspects also face charges regarding firearm possession. Harris faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Both individuals were already in custody in Muscogee County related to a separate carjacking investigation.
