Tottenham Hotspur signs Mykhailo Mudryk on loan

Tottenham Hotspur has completed the deadline day signing of winger Mykhailo Mudryk on loan from Chelsea. The deal includes an option to buy for £75m.

The move reunites the 25-year-old Ukrainian international with manager Roberto De Zerbi, his former coach at Shakhtar Donetsk. De Zerbi expressed optimism regarding Mudryk’s potential, suggesting the player’s previous move to Chelsea may have occurred “too early in his career” due to high pressure and responsibility. He believes Mudryk is now at the right stage to showcase his qualities in the Premier League.

Mudryk’s tenure at Chelsea was marked by limited playing time and a 615-day suspension after testing positive for meldonium in late 2024. Although charges were withdrawn in July following a third test, he remained largely inactive. While Mudryk was not Tottenham’s primary target—with players such as Cody Gakpo and Iliman Ndiaye being higher priorities—the club secured the signing in the final days of the summer transfer window.
