Nafplio hosts 7th Traditional Dance Festival dance festivals in Nafplio
The 7th Traditional Dance Festival, organized by the Labor Center of Nafplio-Hermida, concluded in Nafplio after a three-day event. The festival featured various cultural groups, including Vlachs, Arvanites, Suliotes, Pontians, Cypriots, and Cretans, who showcased traditional costumes, dances, and songs. During the opening, local authorities honored participating delegations. The Vlach Association of Veroia participated to highlight the historical role of Vlachs in the Greek struggle for independence. The event also included a symbolic ceremony involving an olive tree referred to as the ‘Tree of Tradition.’ The festival, which ended with a large-scale celebration at the Nafplio harbor on August 9, drew significant crowds of locals and tourists. Organizers attributed the success to the efforts of the Labor Center and its president, Rafail Barou, in preserving folk heritage.
