The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has organized a concluded its two-day national seminar in Dimapur, scheduled for Dimapur on August 28 and 29, to address focusing on the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) of 1873 and the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system. The NSF’s Inner Line Regulation Commission argues During the event, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio affirmed that current enforcement of the ILP system is fragmented and “piece-meal,” creating loopholes that allow economic control necessary to shift away from indigenous populations. The Federation suggests that stricter implementation would act as an “economic life jacket” for protect the Naga people. The seminar is intended as a national-level policy consultation to formulate recommendations for state’s indigenous interests, while noting the Nagaland government. It is expected to host approximately 350 delegates, including tribal leaders, civil society members, importance of allowing legitimate businesses and legal experts.
