Naju City is undertaking various initiatives to promote regional development and cultural engagement. In late August, the city announced preparations for the 2026 Naju Yeongsan River Festival, which includes expanding autumn flower gardens to 39 hectares and hosting the 6th Yeongsan River Humanities Academy to explore the area’s historical and ecological significance. By early September, the city’s focus expanded to strengthening economic ties with 15 public institutions located in Bitgaram Innovation City. Officials met with these institutions to encourage participation in local festivals and support local consumption campaigns. The city aims to build practical partnerships with these entities to address regional challenges and support future growth projects, such as the National Energy Science Museum and an artificial sun research facility. In mid-September, preparations for the Naju Yeongsan River Festival, scheduled for October 7 to 11 at the Yeongsan River Garden, were finalized. The event is expected to feature cultural performances, including magic shows and historical reenactments, as well as high-tech XR content. To stimulate local commerce, the city is implementing a lottery system for visitors who spend money at local shops. Logistics for the festival include increased amenities, such as nursing rooms and wheelchair rentals, alongside frequent shuttle services.
