NaLyssa Smith season-ending injury

Overview

Las Vegas Aces forward NaLyssa Smith has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 WNBA season following a non-contact left leg injury. The injury occurred during a game against the Toronto Tempo when Smith was forced to leave the court during a defensive play in the third quarter.

Smith, who led the league with a 63.8% field goal percentage, is expected to leave a significant void in the defending champions’ frontcourt. Her absence may increase the workload for reigning MVP A’ja Wilson.

To address the roster change, the Aces have been granted a season-ending injury exemption to sign a free agent. The team is also looking to Cheyenne Parker-Tyus and defensive specialist Brianna Turner to fill the starting lineup. Coach Becky Hammon has emphasized a ‘next woman up’ mentality for the team.
