Law enforcement agencies across Latin America and Europe have expanded their anti-narcotics efforts through coordinated international operations targeting trafficking and money laundering networks. In a multi-agency effort titled ‘Operation Fast Lap,’ authorities in the Dominican Republic, Spain, the United States, and Europol targeted a criminal organization allegedly led by Spanish national Jonathan Yera Pozo. Pozo is accused of moving cocaine from Colombia and Panama to Europe while using luxury real estate in Spain to launder profits. The operation resulted in 27 arrests in Spain and the seizure of boats, high-end vehicles, and over 1.3 million euros in assets. Recent developments in ‘Operation Fast Lap’ confirm the arrest of 41-year-old Jonathan Yera Pozo in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Investigations revealed the network utilized maritime containers to transport cocaine from Colombia and Panama to Europe. Beyond the initial arrests in Spain, the crackdown included one arrest in the Dominican Republic and the seizure of additional assets, including high-end watches, cryptocurrency cold wallets, and significant amounts of cash. In Colombia, authorities reported seizing 2,860 kilograms of cocaine and arresting 61 individuals, including members of the Clan del Golfo, within a single 24-hour period. Panama also reported a significant interception at a port in Colón, where 210 packages of suspected drugs destined for Europe were discovered in a container. In the Dominican Republic, police recovered cocaine, marijuana, and firearms in the provinces of Puerto Plata and La Vega. Meanwhile, in Paraguay, SENAD agents seized over 20 kilograms of cocaine base in Mariscal Estigarribia, alongside further interceptions of cocaine, crack, and marijuana in Areguá and San Lorenzo.
