In late September 2026, significant narcotics seizures were reported in the Arabian Sea by regional maritime authorities. On September 26, the Pakistan Navy reported seizing over 2,800 kilograms of narcotics, valued at approximately $750 million, during a joint operation involving the vessels PNS Hunain and PNS Yarmook. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the drugs were discovered in concealed compartments of a suspicious boat intercepted during routine patrols. Shortly after, on September 25, the Indian Coast Guard and the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad intercepted an Iranian dhow west of Lakshadweep. This operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 526 kg of heroin and methamphetamine, valued at over Rs 3,000 crore. ~~Authorities~~ Following a coordinated sea-air surveillance operation and a hot pursuit, authorities apprehended five Pakistani ~~nationals during~~ nationals. The intercepted vessel, the ~~pursuit, describing~~ crew, and the seized drugs have been escorted under armed security to Mumbai for joint interrogation and multi-agency legal proceedings.
