Following the 2024 death of 8-year-old Narin Güran, which resulted in life sentences for several family members and a prison term for a neighbor, legal scrutiny has shifted toward a documentary titled ‘Şeytantepe.’ In late August 2026, the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched a judicial investigation into the film following complaints from the Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Command. Command and the Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT). Authorities are investigating whether the documentary aims to “discredit the investigation and prosecution processes” or involves “publicly spreading misleading information” regarding the murder case. The probe has expanded to include the production, filming, and financing of the documentary. Prosecutors have requested the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) to track the financial activities of 31 individuals to determine if there are links to activities targeting judicial authorities and gendarmerie personnel. Authorities have stated that the scope of the investigation and the number of individuals involved may expand as new evidence is gathered.
