The Naruto franchise has unveiled a comprehensive expansion roadmap titled ‘Project Rasengan’ during the ‘NARUTO: What’s Next?’ panel at New York Comic Con on October 10, 2026. This long-term plan for the Naruto and Boruto franchises encompasses anime, manga, and gaming, with development slated through 2029. Key gaming announcements include the worldwide release of ‘Naruto Mobile’ (also referred to as ‘Hokage Ninja MOBILE’) on iOS and Android, a title previously limited to mainland China, and the launch of the Naruto Card Game by Bandai in June 2027. The card game will feature initial decks themed after Naruto, Sasuke, and Gaara, with in-store demonstrations planned for February and March 2027. Media expansions include a new manga titled ‘Naruto: Shadow Rising’, written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. Teaser footage suggests the story may be set during the period between the end of Naruto Shippuden and the beginning of Boruto. Further details are expected at Jump Festa 2027 in December. A four-episode crossover anime titled ‘Naruto x Ninku’ is in production at Studio Pierrot. Supervised by Kishimoto and Ninku creator Koji Kiriyama, and directed by Noriyuki Abe, the series brings together characters from Naruto and the martial arts manga Ninku, which served as a major inspiration for Kishimoto. The series follows Team Seven as they encounter a mysterious world and a character named Fusuke. Regarding the Hollywood live-action adaptation by Lionsgate, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, reports suggest the project could expand into a franchise of seven or eight movies if successful. Industry insider Daniel RPK indicates a proposed structure mirroring the Harry Potter series, potentially using three films for the original Naruto series and three to four for Naruto: Shippuden.
