Director‑writer Destin Daniel Cretton, noted for recent Marvel projects, later clarified that the film will aim to stay as close as possible to Kishimoto’s original manga, concentrating on the early genin arcs rather than condensing the entire series.

Screenwriter Tasha Huo (known for *The Witcher* and *Tomb Raider*) has been hired to pen the script, and the production team now includes Avi Arad, Ari Arad, Emmy Yu, Jeremy Latcham, and Jeyun Munford, with Cretton also producing.
