Leading up to the December 6 elections, officials from the National Unity Party (UBP) have been actively defending the party’s record and internal processes. Party members, including former Economy Minister Olgun Amcaoğlu and Health Minister Dr. Hakan Dinçyürek, have addressed recent controversies regarding individual scandals and population data, while highlighting government achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, and energy. Following the party’s parliamentary candidate selection on October 24, Prime Minister and UBP leader Ünal Üstel defended the results of the primary election. Despite objections from some candidates who were excluded from the final 50-person list, Üstel characterized the process as the party’s most ‘transparent, organized, and modern election to date,’ asserting that the rankings were determined by the votes of nearly 9,000 members. On October 27, the UBP finalized its 50-member parliamentary candidate list, which includes candidates distributed across Nicosia, Famagusta, Kyrenia, Iskele, Güzelyurt, and Lefke. The selection incorporated both gender and party quotas. To address concerns regarding the integrity of the results, Party Secretary General Ahmet Savaşan noted that the digital voting system was demonstrated to and monitored by Supreme Electoral Council (YSK) officials.
