During the Combined Resolve military exercise in Germany, Ukrainian drone operators from the 412th Unmanned Systems Regiment, known as Nemesis, successfully neutralized a simulated US armored brigade. The maneuvers involved approximately 3,500 US soldiers, primarily from the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Cavalry Division. The simulation exposed vulnerabilities in heavy armored units, as US vehicles were easily identified by reconnaissance drones due to dust clouds raised during movement. These vehicles were subsequently targeted by simulated explosive drops and FPV kamikaze drones. The speed of the simulated destruction required organizers to repeatedly reintroduce new units to maintain the exercise. In response, US forces focused on improving tactics through better camouflage, unit dispersal, and electronic warfare. The exercises have highlighted a broader gap in NATO readiness, suggesting that major military powers have not yet fully integrated the reconnaissance and tactical drone capabilities that have become decisive in contemporary combat. This lack of integration suggests that NATO forces are not yet effectively deploying the necessary technology required to adapt to lessons learned from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Building on these tactical requirements, Polish special forces have begun participating in specialized drone warfare training in Germany, coached by U.S. Army Green Berets. This drill, which simulates traversing enemy territory and launching drone strikes, Conducted at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, this drill marks the first time a NATO ally has undergone this specific training program originally developed for U.S. special forces.
