Initially, London-based streaming service DAZN moved to become a major distributor, securing exclusive streaming rights for several franchises including the Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Minnesota Timberwolves. DAZN also planned to replace the Gotham Sports app as the streaming home for MSG Networks and YES Network, covering teams such as the New York Yankees, Knicks, Rangers, Islanders, Nets, and Sabres. Subsequent developments indicate that YouTube has emerged as a frontrunner in entered advanced negotiations for to launch a major local joint streaming package platform for local game broadcasts, a deal that could be worth between $850 million and $1.2 billion. This proposed deal, potentially starting valued at over $1 billion annually. Scheduled to begin in the 2027/2028 2027/28 season, the platform aims to centralize local broadcasts for at least 25 that are currently fragmented across various regional networks.
