The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) men’s hockey team suffered a 5-1 defeat against No. 18 UMass, a game in which UMass converted two of four power-play opportunities. Following this loss, RIT entered a period with a 1-2-1 season record and prepared to host third-ranked Michigan State at the Blue Cross Arena. In women’s college hockey, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) scheduled a non-conference series against the University of Maine, marking the first meeting between the two programs in nearly a decade. Following these matchups, RIT’s men’s team secured a 4-1 victory over RPI. Matthew Wilde opened the scoring for RIT in the first period, while RPI’s Rainers Rullers scored in the second. RPI eventually secured the win with three unanswered goals in the third period, including an empty-net goal by Ian Scherzer. Meanwhile, the RPI women’s hockey team suffered a 4-0 loss to No. 7 Princeton. Although RPI recorded 20 shots on goal and won 29-20 in the faceoff battle, Princeton converted two power-play opportunities with goals from Riley Sorokan and Caroline Averill. Gabby Kim and Ani Kozak also scored to extend the Princeton lead.
