NeodraDynamics Robotics has introduced the Neo1, a 13-foot tall, 1.2-ton heavy-duty humanoid robot designed for demanding industrial environments. Unveiled at the China International Industry Fair in Shanghai, the machine is intended for use in sectors such as mining, nuclear facilities, industrial ports, and underwater engineering. The Neo1 utilizes a hydraulic-electric hybrid drive system rather than relying exclusively on electric motors. It features 41 active degrees of freedom, including 39 miniature digital hydraulic actuators and two electric rotational joints in the forearms. This architecture enables a combined two-arm payload capacity of approximately 1,100 pounds (500 kilograms) and a reported positioning repeatability of ±0.0002 inches (±5 micrometers). Marketed as a “sky, ground and sea” responder, the robot is intended to assist with cargo handling, debris removal, and maintenance in hazardous conditions. While NeodraDynamics aims to deploy the unit in factories and power plants to mitigate risks to human workers, technical details regarding real-world performance and independent verification of these specifications are currently limited.
