NetApp has expanded its data infrastructure platform with new technologies designed to transition artificial intelligence from pilot programs to full-scale production. Building on the NetApp Novus architecture, which separates the metadata layer from the data layer to support large-scale GPU environments, the company has entered a strategic cooperation with Supermicro. This partnership offers validated AI infrastructure solutions combining Supermicro’s computing systems with NetApp’s data management. NetApp has further detailed the Novus architecture, positioning it to eliminate data bottlenecks in AI factories. The system is designed to support aggregate throughput of up to 100 TB/s and zettabyte-scale capacity, addressing issues where insufficient data delivery causes expensive GPU clusters to sit idle. The initial implementation utilizes Novus Data Director software on Supermicro hardware alongside NetApp ONTAP data services on AFF A90 systems. To support the rise of agentic AI, NetApp introduced the AI Data Engine (AIDE), enabling zero-copy data access to reduce latency and costs. Additionally, a partnership with Commvault integrates autonomous ransomware protection signals into recovery workflows. Regarding data sovereignty, NetApp launched Keystone Sovereign, a storage-as-a-service offering for the European Economic Area (EEA). The This service allows customers to manage hardware deployment locations while ensuring that data, logs, backups, and telemetry remain within specified European borders. Metadata runs on a sovereign European cloud, with support and escalation processes operated entirely within the region. The rollout is proceeding on a country-by-country basis, starting with Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. During the Expanding its cloud capabilities, NetApp Insight 2026 event, has partnered with Oracle to launch the company announced Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) NetApp Storage Service. This fully managed service integrates NetApp ONTAP data management capabilities directly into OCI as a native service, intended to simplify the winners migration and management of its North America Partner Award for fiscal year 2026, recognizing partners that assist customers in building intelligent data infrastructures. mission-critical AI and enterprise workloads. The OCI service is expected to be generally available within the next 12 months.
